New York City-based Bulgarian singer-songwriter Ruth Koleva uses music as her lifeboat to navigate the river of life, battling strong currents and finding a rhythm and flow. When Koleva left post-Communist Eastern Europe in search of a better life, she and her father experienced a lot of hardship. However, music unexpectedly became an attraction that helped her cope with some of the unusual circumstances she found herself in.

Koleva has become a national Bulgarian treasure and continues to grow her international fan base during a decade-long career. She has worked with jazz vocalist Bobby McFerrin, enigmatic trip hop pioneer Tricky, and dub pioneer Mad Professor, as well as five sold-out concerts at Bulgaria Hall with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra.

On October 1st 2022, the singer-songwriter made a it known to her followers, as she hit another milestone. The singer signed a deal with Warner Music Group, an American multinational entertainment and record label conglomerate headquartered in New York City, one of the “big three” recording companies and the third-largest in the global music industry, after Universal Music Group and Sony Music.

Koleva posted on her Instagram page announcing the deal with her holding a clear board printed on to “RUTH KOLEVA, Warner Music.” The singer expresses joy “OK, boys and girls. Here’s the big news – I’m now a Warner Music artist!.” Initially, Ruth Koleva had the deal a month before but, could not find the perfect way to announce it as she thinks this milestone of hers is a huge recognition, an incredible opportunity and hopes this open the doors for other colleague Bulgarian artists.

The pop singer reminisce on teachings her father gave her as to always rise when she falls and move on like an athlete because “I’ve grown up, learned so much and am moving forward” – “Life is a funny thing, really. It’s never too late and sometimes it’s all in your hands and your belief that you’re going in the right direction (even if the table is trying to convince you otherwise).” she wrote.

Since 2019, Ruth Koleva lived in New York City where she continues to perfect her musical skills and widen her audience. She also has a new single “Super Power” which was release September 30th, under her new record label ‘Warner Music Poland and Orpheus Music Bulgaria’ after her last single ‘MOVING ON’ was released in June 17, 2022.

On May 27, 2022, Warner Music Poland made a decision to take a minority stake in BIG Idea, one of the country’s leading concert and festival promoters. A festival promoting company that works with leading talent agencies and has organized concerts that have been engaged with by 3.4 million people, with performances by artists including Anderson .Paak, Denzel Curry, Ghostemane, Lauryn Hill, Machine Gun Kelly, Mobb Deep, Playboi Carti, The Game, Trippie Redd and many more.

According to wmg.com, “The deal will see the companies work together to launch a new festivals and expand the line-ups of BIG Idea’s existing Yass! Festival and other events. They will also collaborate to expand BIG Idea’s merch business and booking operations, as well as developing its NFT-powered Live Entertainment Ecosystem.” So is safe to say that, the Bulgarian pop star Ruth Koleva has to her advantage not only a chance to perform at any of BIG Idea’s concerts as a Warner Music member but, the best distribution of her records to more and wider audience outside.

Adrian Ciepichał, Managing Director of Warner Music Poland, says: “We’re always looking to do more for our artists and this deal will enable us to do just that. We’re going to collaborate with BIG Idea to pour rocket fuel on the success of individual artists and grow the wider local hip-hop scene. I’m looking forward to welcoming new artists to our local roster and helping them find a wider audience in Poland and internationally.”
