Rihanna's 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' is leaving fans in tears

Rihanna – the global icon, designer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and the top-selling digital singles artist of all time – makes her highly-anticipated return to the airwaves today with “Lift Me Up,” the lead single from the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever original soundtrack. She later dropped the music video of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, Lift Me Up, on Friday, October 28th, and the fans are in awe.

The song is a remembrance of the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed the title character, the Black Panther/King T’Challa. Boseman, who passed away from colon cancer in 2020 at the age of 43, had been privately battling the disease for four years as it advanced to stage IV after being diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016.

After portraying the role, the late actor irrevocably changed Hollywood.

The soundtrack is upbeat despite the downtempo of the song thanks to Rihanna’s powerful vocals and lyrics. The somber song floats above soft keys, notes, and a soft backing choir.

Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems, Rihanna, Coogler, and who has previously collaborated with Drake, Justin Bieber, Future, Wizkid, Beyonce, and Khalid, wrote Lift Me Up together. According to the BBC, Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson, who scored the first Black Panther movie as well as Creed, Venom, and Tenet, produced and co-wrote the song.

Lift Me Up is the first solo single from Rihanna since the release of her album Anti in 2016.
