Cardi B and Rosala Work Together on “Despechá” Remix

The song from a deluxe edition of her Motomami album impressively peaked at No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier this year.

In order to remix one of the year’s most popular songs, Cardi B has teamed up with Rosalia. The rapper joined a brand-new rendition of Rosalia’s international smash “Despechá.” In July, Rosala debuted “Despechá,” then in August, she made the music video available. Earlier this week, Rosalía had fans guessing who would appear on the remix of her hit “Despechá.”

The track from her Motomami album’s deluxe version amazingly reached its highest position of No. 63 earlier this year. Some guessed that it was the Dominican merengue legend Omega, who had purportedly been cut from the original version of “Despechá” back in July.

Cardi B announced her participation in the remix by tweeting an emoji of a winking face. On Twitter, she posted, “Bien perra.” Additionally, Cardi B shared several images with the message “DESPECHA MALDITOOO.”

Rosalia and Cardi B had actually worked together before, but it was only for a cameo. In Cardi B’s “WAP” music video from 2020, the Spanish pop artist appeared alongside Normani, Latto, and Kylie Jenner.

It made sense for Rosalia to include Cardi B because she is of Dominican heritage and the song “Despechá” is influenced by merengue music from the Dominican Republic.

Cardi B breaks through with her scorching verse around the midway point. “This a king, bad b**ch, but the shoes McQueen,” Cardi raps.”

“I always wanted to work with her. Since [a] long time ago, I wanted to make music with her. And she knows I love her music, and she always supports me too. So I was like, “This song is inspired in Mambo. It’s inspired in musica Dominicana.” And she’s Dominican, so who else is going to understand this better than her,” she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.

In “No Love (Extended Version),” Cardi B collaborated with Summer Walker and SZA to start the year 2022. Since then, she has collaborated with Kay Flock on “Shake It,” Kanye West, Lil Durk, and Glorilla on “Hot Shit,” and Glorilla on “Tomorrow 2.”
