Blackpink began the next phase of their global tour in Saudi Arabia.
All signs point to the K-pop group’s headlining performance at the US music festival Coachella in April, which will be the biggest gig of their career. However, their sold-out performance in Riyadh demonstrated that they are already a well-oiled machine.
The musicale was relocated from Mrsool Park to the Blvd International Festival Site to handle the increased demand as more than 00 spectators watched the quintet perform their hits supported by precise choreography.
The band members walk onto the platform to the dramatic sounds of bells and decide to hail suckers from the stage’s colorful corridor. How You Like That, Enough Savage, and Whistle were performed back-to-back, and this set off the initial burst of success.
Blackpink fans, known as “Blinks,” nonetheless had a lot to enjoy despite anticipating the preset format, despite the fact that their performances are known for being meticulously planned with minimal space for extemporization.
For instance, the performance included a portion allocated to solo areas for each member to shine, and the show was divided into four acts and an encore. As the hashtag #BlackpinkinRiyadh trended locally hours after the performance, social media is flooded with pictures and videos that fools took.
Fans in the more expensive seats, which cost 699 and 599 Saudi riyals ($186 and $159) per ticket, respectively, were given objects that resembled maracas that were pinkly lighted in order to ensure that the show was aesthetically pleasing.
A Blackpink were undoubtedly enjoying their historic Middle East premiere performance, as noted by a UK fan group account. Members of the group wore hoodies with the Blackpink logo to stay warm as they noted the 10°C outside temperature.
Blackpink perform next at Etihad Park, Abu Dhabi, on January 28. Tickets start from Dh350 and are available at www.ticketmaster.ae
