Rapper Sarkodie from Ghana has collaborated with Bob Marley and The Wailers on a remake of their timeless song “Stir It Up.” Let us take the ride back when the phrase “Someone bigger than Jay-Z” was buzzing on twitter after record producer Possigee granted blogger Kobby Kyei about two years ago that Sarkodie was working on a project with “someone bigger than Jay Z.”
Of course, most Sarkodie fans anticipated that the feature would appear on his 2021 album “No Pressure,” but that was not the case. Several months after the release of his “Jamz” album, “someone larger than Jay Z” was still nowhere to be discovered.
The ‘Landlord’ Sarkodie gets featured on a 1967 song by Bob Marley and the Wailers. This is obviously an enviable feat by Sarkodie, for the Ghanaian music industry at large. MOGBeatz, one of Ghana’s best beat producers, remade the song. Possigee actually revealed this in his conversation with Kobby Kyei.
Sarkodie, one of Ghana’s biggest and most successful rappers, brings a fresh perspective to the track with his unique flow and style. His verse adds a new layer of energy to the song, while still staying true to the original message of unity and love.
The collaboration is the ideal fusion of old and new, with Sarkodie’s contemporary touch flawlessly mixing with the timeless sound of Bob Marley and The Wailers. It proves how popular Bob Marley’s music has remained over time and how it continues to influence musicians from all generations and cultural backgrounds.
The iconic reggae band, including the late Bob Marley, is regarded for its timeless music that has influenced and will continue to affect generations. Their engaging lyrics and bouncy tempo of the 1973 hit song “Stir It Up” are no exception.
