In January 2022, the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother‘s spin-off, How I Met Your Father, debuted. Just two months after the first season’s premiere, Hulu approved its second season, despite the fact that it didn’t receive the same level of critical acclaim as the first.
The two-time Emmy-winning sitcom focuses on hopelessly romantic photographer Sophie, played by Hilary Duff in the present timeline and Kim Cattrall in the future.
“Sophie (Cattrall), in the year 2050, recounts to her unseen son the events that followed meeting his father in January 2022 and how they ultimately had him.”
Hilary Duff was spotted hitting the promotional trail in a number of stylish outfits the day before the season 2 premiere of the standalone follow-up to How I Met Your Mother.
She visited Good Morning America on Monday, arriving in a monochromatic red costume from the Resort 2023 collection of A.W.A.K.E. MODE.
The 35-year-old actress went all out, tucking a red maxi skirt made with the brand’s laser-cutting process into a crimson long-sleeved blouse.
The stretch-crepe de chine shirt, which costs $370 at Net-a-Porter, has an exaggerated collar, contrast white stitching, front buttons, and thin ties at the back. It was made up of rows of woven, rectangular panels. Hilary was spotted at one point wrapped up in an animal-print coat outside the studio.
How I Met Your Father Season 2 Plot
The creators of How I Met Your Father are keeping their viewers in the dark as the plot for season two remains unknown. However, considering where the finale episode of season one left off, several plot points can be inferred.
The first season ended with some cliffhangers. Sophie (Hilary Duff) and Jesse (Chris Lowell) started dating, but their relationship was short-lived after Sophie witnessed Jesse kissing his ex, Meredith (Leighton Meester).
Valentina (Francia Raisa) and Charlie (Tom Ainsley) ended their relationship due to their opposing views on having children. Longtime couple Sid (Suraj Sharma) and Hannah (Ashley Reyes) eloped, Rachel (Aby James) gave Ellen (Tien Tran) a second chance, and at the end of the season finale, Sophie unexpectedly reunited with Ian (Daniel Augustin).
The main cast, including Hilary Duff and Chris Lowell, are reprising their roles in the second season of How I Met Your Father.
There will also be some new casts and surprise guest appearances, such as Neil Patrick Harris, who made a cameo in the season 2 premiere as How I Met Your Mother’s Barney Stinson.
“We wanted to bring him back, and we wanted him to be true to his character and to the fans that loved Barney so much,” co-creator Elizabeth Berger told TV Line. “But we also wanted him to exist on our show, in our time, in a way that made sense, so all of that Zoom was spent talking about how we could blend all those things and service him and the show in the best way possible.”
‘How I Met Your Father‘ season two will have a total of 20 episodes as opposed to the first season’s 10 episodes.
“We did 10, which obviously is very normal in this model, but it also flies by,” Berger told TV Line in January 2022. “We did our 10 and went, ‘Oh my God, that was quick for multi-cam. We could have done a couple more,’ so I think we’ll take that into consideration.”
More cast members from the original How I Met Your Mother sitcom may also make an appearance in the spin-off series, according to Berger’s hints.
We live in the same universe as the original, so either another set from the original or a person from it may exist in our world, according to Berger, who spoke to Radio Times. And we believe that we do it in a really fulfilling way, even in this season, and we intend to keep doing so in the future.
