In a remark on Instagram, Nicki Minaj congratulated Rihanna on her “new bundle of joy” and for rocking the Super Bowl LVII halftime show. Minaj was responding to Rihanna’s post labeling her baby “fine,” for which she received backlash from fans.
“My son so fine! Idc idc idc! How crazy both of my babies were in these photos and mommy had no clue. thank you so much @edward_enninful and @inezandvinoodh for celebrating us as a family!” Rihanna captioned the photo of herself with her song. Minaj commented in response: “a lil pretty boy already. Congratulations on the new bundle of joy, Queen. Bodied Super Bowl.”

After her Super Bowl performance, Rihanna spoke with British Vogue about the birth of her baby. The child was born to her in May 2022. “Man, you’re a zombie for the most part,” she said of the first few months. “You’re just going through the motions and even then you’re so paranoid. Because you’re like: they trusted us to come home with this baby? This new life? With us? No doctors, no nurses, we’re just… going home?”
Rihanna claims that she and A$AP Rocky decided against hiring a nanny in spite of their concerns. Instead, they took care of every aspect of parenting by themselves.
She added: “It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever. You literally try to remember it – and there are photos of my life before – but the feeling, the desires, the things that you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because you don’t even allow yourself mentally to get that far, because…. Because it doesn’t matter.”
In September 2020, Minaj gave birth to her own son, whom she affectionately refers to as “Papa Bear.” Since 2019, Minaj and Kenneth Petty have been wed. Minaj acknowledged feeling more anxious during giving birth to Papa Bear for the first time, much like Rihanna did.
I hate that I have more anxiety now because you’re like, ‘What if the one time I leave my child, I get that phone call?” she told E! News at the time. “I think moms feel like they have to be perfect.”
