Deepika Padukone and Riz Ahmed will be among the Oscars presenters this year. On Thursday, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the list of its first slate of presenters, which included the actors. Following Priyanka Chopra in 2016, Padukone will give an award at the ceremony as the second South Asian woman.
Padukone, now 37, is a Bollywood superstar. She made her Hindi film debut with Om Shanti Om at only 21, starring opposite the King Khan himself, Shah Rukh Khan. In recent months, Padukone, who founded her skincare company 82°E in November 2022, has expanded her impact globally.
On the launch of her skincare company 82°E, Padukone told Sniggha Sur of the The Juggernut outlet that, she’s now building a business on her own pace terms. it’s not about “vanity,” but about “leaving an impact.” But, most importantly, the self-care company and its products are what she believes are the truest avatar of who she’s always been.
The actor, who debuted in Bollywood in 2007 with #OmShantiOm, was on the Cannes jury in May 2022. She unveiled the FIFA World Cup trophy later that year before the December final, and is a brand ambassador of Cartier, LouisVuitton, Qatar Airways, and others.

Ahmed, who is also a singer, rapper, and producer, won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short last year, alongside Aneil Karia. He was also nominated for Best Actor for “Sound Of Metal” in 2021. Earlier this year, Ahmed announced the full list of Oscar nominees with actor Allison Williams of ‘Get Out’ and ‘M3GAN’ fame. The multi-hyphenate actor and musician consistently produces the deep cuts when it comes to Brown culture and history — and, now, he’s creating for himself.
Ahmed, who is now 40, has long made references to important aspects of Brown society. Before it became fashionable, he was known as a Partition and history whisperer.
Padukone and Ahmed will be among a long list of Hollywood luminaries serving as presenters, which includes Michael B. Jordan, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, Janelle Monae, Questlove, Zoe Saldana, Melissa McCarthy, and others.
Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will also perform ‘Naatu Naatu’ from “RRR,” which is nominated for Best Original Song, live at the Oscars, airing on the 12th of March 2023.
