The performer Lance Reddick, who appeared in The Wire, John Wick, and Horizon Zero Dawn, passed away at the age of 60. Following the actor’s passing, Reddick’s reps gave the following statement to IGN:
“Acclaimed actor Lance Reddick passed away suddenly this morning from natural causes.
Lance was best known for his roles in “The Wire,” “Bosch,” Netflix’s “Resident Evil” and the John Wick films.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick.
Donations in his memory can be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, his hometown.
Lance will be greatly missed.

Reddick’s most well-known performance was as Cedric Daniels in the television series The Wire, which he played from 2002 to 2008. Reddick most recently played Charon in the John Wick series. Reddick was in the middle of a press tour for John Wick: Chapter 4, where he will appear as the Continental Hotel’s concierge once more.
The actor also had recurring parts in Lost, Oz, and other shows in addition to his appearance as Chef Irvin in Bosch on Amazon Prime.
“I’m an artist at heart. I feel that I’m very good at what I do. When I went to drama school, I knew I was at least as talented as other students, but because I was a Black man and I wasn’t pretty, I knew I would have to work my butt off to be the best that I would be, and to be noticed,” he told the Los Angeles Times in 2009.
Following the news of his passing, tributes from friends and admirers flooded social media, with director James Gunn referring to Reddick as “an incredibly nice guy, and an incredibly talented actor” in a tweet.
His co-star in The Wire, Wendell Pierce, said Reddick’s death was “sudden, unexpected, sharp, painful grief for our artistic family” and praised him as a “man of great strength and grace” as well as being the “epitome of elegance”.

Actor Michael Warburton described him as a “hell of an actor”.
Screenwriter BJ Colangelo tweeted that Reddick “improved every single project just by being there”.
Several well-known video games featured the actor in important roles as well. He performed the roles of Martin Hatch in Quantum Break, Commander Zavala in the Destiny series, Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, and Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn. In the live-action Resident Evil series from a year ago, Reddick additionally played Albert Wesker.
Reddick has been working on a couple of projects, including The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime and Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+, in which he will portray Zeus. In 2021, Reddick earned a SAG Award nomination for his role in Regina King’s film One Night In Miami.
Additionally in 2021, Michael K. Williams, his co-star from The Wire, who was 54 years old, was discovered deceased. The medical examiner for New York City subsequently determined that he had passed away from acute drug intoxication.
Reddick studied music at the University of Rochester before earning a Master of Fine Arts defree from the Yale School of Drama in 1994.
